While he is an artist, Phocus is also his own producer, songwriter, and engineer. He fuses parts of his culture and identity to create his own sound. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he gained most of his inspiration through the contagious environment. Since his early childhood days, performing arts and music have always interested him. At the age of 12, he went to Hollywood in pursuit of an acting career which fell through; however, he kept the motive to create.

In 2017, his uncle, someone who had been extremely pivotal to helping him find his love for music production, passed away due to a drug overdose. Today, Phocus works on making their collective vision come to life. While, spreading positivity along with the message, “anyone can bring their passion to life and should not be discouraged by those who don’t wish to see success.” He also believes, “it is important to remember who you are, in order to remain true to yourself.”

Phocus first started songwriting in 2017 and recorded his first song about a year later; during this time, his music lacked support from many. So now, he works towards finding his sound through numerous sub-genres of Hip Hop & Rap music. Phocus believes that in order to succeed, in addition to being himself, he has to incorporate the sounds of the current time. After many failed attempts at trying to emulate the majority of the industry, he has realized that he is better off being himself.
